Yes, it is once again that time of the year! With Easter right around the corner our yummy Hot Cross Buns will be available in the Farm Stall at R22 from today!
These freshly baked buns are a special tradition at Millys and the recipe was developed by Milly herself.
For interest sake I read up a little on this treat and according to Wikipedia the first mention of Hot Cross Buns date back to 1733 – mentioned in Poor Robin’s Almanack:
“Good Friday comes this month, the old woman runs. With one or two a penny hot cross buns”
The buns historically mark the end of Lent and the cross actually represents the crucifixion while the spices signify the embalming spices, but these days they are often found all year round in some places.
